What is the difference between Korean and Western movie market?

The film industry around the world is dominated by various genres and stories. The entertainment industry, such as the film industry, is difficult to predict demand and high risk, but it is also a very profitable industry as it is high risk.  Throughout Korea and the West, the film industry must be a high-risk industry. Common risks include investment risk, movie risk, box office risk, and credit risk. Despite such risks, the film industry is constantly developing. The film industry has been operating for the global market since its inception. First of all, if you look at the Western film industry market, Hollywood and European film industries have formed a universal demand by exporting movies to the world. Since the 1950s, it has been advancing globalization through overseas production and international joint production. Hollywood focused on technological innovation and differentiation strategies to respond to changes in TV appearance and leisure demand, while developing models th...

[Reading 2] What is the relation between culture and globalization?

Summary In order to understand 'cultural globalization', we need to know about various definitions, including globalization. Globalization refers to a complex, accelerated, and integrated global connection process without giving priority or causal superiority to any one. The abstract concept of globalization is a network of interconnections and interdependencies that characterize the material, social, economic, and cultural life of modern society. Globalization is virtually ubiquitous and crosses international boundaries. The most important thing in the globalization process is that the institution of the global capitalist market is a very decisive factor in globalization. The capitalist system cannot escape global domination, and cultural analysts stress its importance. Cultural globalization is a way of expanding and strengthening social relationships, which means sharing ideas, meanings, and values around the world. Cultural globalization refers to the integration of scholar...

Reading 3: What is the relation between politics and globalization? - Jina Kim

Summary In Reading 3, globalization refers to an organization of multidimensional, accelerated, interconnected spaces and time across borders. Regarding political globalization, it is about 'access to the social world that emphasizes not only time and space but also transnational processes'. Political globalization in this article highlights various aspects of globalization that seem dynamic rather than a new kind of reality. The most common form of political globalization is the worldwide spread of democracy. Even in non-democratic governments, democracy exists in the same form as the democratic movement. Many of the world's democratic ethnic states have spawned a different kind of political culture. The first view of political globalization is the geopolitics of world power, and the second refers to the revival of global normative culture. This spreads in global political communications. Coupled with the spread of globalization of democracy, political communication has ...

Reading Assignment 4 : What is the relation between economy and globalization? - Jina Kim

Summary Reading 4 provides an approach based on the description and geographical experience of the TNC's character and significance in the course of economic globalization, while at the same time providing a theoretical basis. In a globalized market, the TNC is the center of the global economy. The number of TNCs in the global economy has increased exponentially. The most comprehensive definition of the modern TNC, and the definition supporting the discussion in this chapter, is 'an enterprise with the power to coordinate and control operations in one or more countries'. This is what's called a global enterprise, which is known to be doing business all over the world and not at all loyal to any particular country or community. Indeed, the TNC has all its forms and sizes, from so-called global companies operating in dozens of countries to TNCs operating only in one or two countries outside its home country. What they all have in common is that they work in different poli...

[Blog Project Assignment 2] Analysis of Hofstede’s variable

Image
Based on Hofstede's cultural dimension theory, we compared how countries belonging to Eastern and Western cultures differ. First of all, China and Korea, which are Asian cultural countries, and Britain and the U.S., which are Western cultural countries, were selected as comparison targets. I arbitrarily chose Britain as the representative countries of the European Union, the United States as the Americas, and China and Korea as the representative countries of Asia. These countries do not necessarily represent all countries in the region. But I think I have enough public confidence in the results. First of all, let's look at 'the distance of power' . 'Power Distance' refers to the emotional distance that subordinates in an organization isolate from their boss. Usually, questions such as "1. Are subordinates afraid to speak out to their bosses?" "2. What is the actual decision-making style of the boss that the subordinates see?" and "3. ...

[Blog Assignment 1] WVS analysis : People who don´t work turn lazy / Feeling of happiness

Image
The high unemployment rate in modern society causes many problems. Why is the global unemployment rate still high? People explain that there are many problems. There are problems such as economy not recovered after the global financial crisis, new problems of a breakthrough in youth unemployment, the lack of relatively well-equipped jobs, immigrants with low labor costs as opposed to high labor costs for their own citizens, and the imbalance of wealth among classes. Currently, the worst unemployment crisis is taking place as the economic downturn continues due to the Corona 19 Pandemics that have hit the world. With Corona 19 dealing a serious blow to the economy, we looked at several statistics about recognition on unemployment and the unemployed. Among them, we could find statistics on the subject of 'Will people who don't work be lazy?' I analyzed the WVS investigation on the subject of 'People who don´t work turn lazy.' Egypt was the country where the most peo...
