Is our culture better or worse then centuries ago? / Jeong hyemin

I think it's better. Compared to the past, Korean society has developed, and it has been influenced by many countries through globalization. As it developed from a helped country to a helpful country, it developed a lot in terms of culture. Of course, there is still a culture that is not suitable for modern society, but it is gradually disappearing.

Is globalization good or bad? What do you think? / Jeong hyemin

I think globalization is good. Globalization has allowed us to experience the culture of various countries, and the view of other countries has expanded. I learned how to coexist with other countries and helped our country grow. In the case of Corona19, the whole world is working together to resolve this situation. I think it is possible because globalization has been achieved.

[Reading 4] What is the relation between economics and globalization? / Jeong hyemin

Summary Economy and globalization have a very close relationship. A company that works around the world and operates in many countries is called a global company. In particular, this article describes the TNC. The TNC began in the late 19th century. It started in developed countries at the time of its inception, but over time it has also appeared in many developing countries. Many developing countries are also emerging, and the economic sector is diversifying. Interesting point Cultural differences are an important role in the demand for goods and services. Therefore, global companies plan and discriminate products according to the country. In the case of McDonald's, menus and components differ from country to country. In Korea, it is composed to taste the taste of Koreans and plans events that Koreans will like. Discussion How can global companies be satisfied with the growing number of foreigners living in other countries, not in their own countries?

In many places, including Korea, there is a strong relationship between education and social class. Why? / Jeong hye min

I think it's because the cost of education is not small. For example, the Korean drama 'SKY Castle' shows that children from wealthy families improve their grades by receiving expensive education and guidance. They teach in a way that is suitable for students with more expensive tuition than the universal academy. It seems that the relationship between education and social class to be more costly because they take more and better classes.

What may cause reduction in globalization (trade and contacts between different countries)? / Jeong hyemin

Globalization seems to have paused this year due to infectious diseases. There were many restrictions, such as limited movement between countries due to a disease called Corona19. With the exception of the virus, the collapse of trust between countries will have a negative impact on globalization. Because if you talk negatively about other countries and discriminate against them, the relationship between countries will be bad.

When do you think globalization started? / Jeong hye min

I think globalization began when other countries recognized that it existed. This is because they communicate and interact with other countries because they know that there are countries other than one. Since then, national federations such as the OECD and the EU have been established, helping each other through trade. With Corona 19, the world is a Pandemic, and all countries are working hard to overcome it.

Think about how they tie to globalization (some are easier to tie than others) / Jeong hye min

The text mentions trends that should be noted in 2021. It is tied to Corona 19 and the U.S. presidential election. 1,2,6,7,9,10 are related to Corona19. COVID-19 led the whole world to Pandemics. The global economy has stopped due to Corona 19, and all have become one for vaccine development. The risk of infection has forced them to refrain from traveling and delayed many events. However, this also led to the launch of the online business/service. 3,4,5 are related to the U.S. presidential election. Many countries seem to be paying attention to the United States because it has a great influence on the world. 8, which is not both of the above, is an issue that the world is paying attention to and is a homework to solve.

How is the price of rice in Korea affected by the government? Could rice be cheaper if the government did not interfere? Who benefits from the current price of rice in Korea? Who loses? If government interference stopped and rice became cheaper, who would benefit and who would lose? Should the government stop interfering with the price of rice? / Jeong hyemin

Q : How is the price of rice in Korea affected by the government? Could rice be cheaper if the government did not interfere? Who benefits from the current price of rice in Korea? Who loses? If government interference stopped and rice became cheaper, who would benefit and who would lose? Should the government stop interfering with the price of rice?  A : The price of rice in Korea is affected by the policy. Tariffs are imposed on imported rice and limits on rice prices. Without these policies, rice is expected to be more expensive. I think the price could rise further due to farmers' labor costs or people's demand. Currently, consumers are benefiting from the price of rice in Korea. If the government stops interfering and the price of rice becomes cheaper, consumers will also benefit from increased sales, and farmers (suppliers) will benefit. I think that would hurt the exporting countries. I don't think we need to stop the current policy because it's for the people.

What's the difference between UN and ASEAN? / Jeong hyemin

The United Nations stands for United Nations. It is an international organization established to prevent war and maintain peace, and 193 countries are joined. ASEAN stands for the Association of South-East Asian Nations and is the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The difference between the two is the state. The United Nations is an international organization that targets the world, but ASEAN is targeted at Southeast Asian countries. The purpose of the establishment is also different. The former was established to establish the economic and social foundations of the region, while the latter was established for peace. The United Nations is located in New York, USA, and ASEAN is located in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Should United Nation be reformed - and how would you do it? / Jeong hyemin

I think the United Nations should change accordingly because the world is constantly changing. In the present situation, there are many changes caused by COVID-19 and must be innovated accordingly.

What are some the major issues in world politics right now? / Jeong hyemin

I think the main issue of world politics now is the economic slowdown following the COVID-19. Not only Korea but also the whole world is facing an economic crisis due to the fandom caused by the COVID-19.

[Reading3] What is the relation between politics and globalization? / Jeong hyemin

Summary Politics is inseparable from globalization. Political globalization is spreading all over the world. The first dimension of political globalization is the geopolitics of world power. Secondly, it means the rise of a global normative culture, which is independent. Also, it is most related to people. Political globalization has the dynamics of state, nationality and citizenship, public domain and political communication, civil society and space and boundaries. Interesting point Networks are developed and developing all over the world. The network has made the world much more convenient. This led to further globalization, but I didn't think it had anything to do with politics. This part was interesting. With the development of the network, the political sector also develops. But there are also negative aspects of this. Discussion What should countries do to create a world without boundaries?

What are the biggest differences between those countries? In this grape, the biggest difference is 'individualism'. In particular, there is a big difference between Korea and New Zealand. 1. Power Distance  Power Distance is defined as the extent to which the less powerful members of institutions and organisations within a country expect and accept that power is distributed unequally. France is a society in which a fair degree of inequality is accepted. Power is not only centralised in companies and government, but also geographically.  New Zealand is Within organizations, hierarchy is established for convenience, superiors are always accessible and managers rely on individual employees and teams for their expertise. Both managers and employees expect to be consulted and information is shared frequently. At the same time, communication is informal, direct and participative. South Korea is a slightly hierarchical society. This means that people accept a hi...

[Blog Assignment 1] World Values Survey / Jeong Hyemin

Q :  Important in life: Family I compared Korea and China how important family is in life. I heard that policy requires only one child and sometimes hides the case of having more than one child. On the other hand, individualism appears in Korea, such as having "dink people" who do not have children or not getting married at all.  Therefore, I expected China to think that it is higher than Korea. The results were not as expected. Although it was a fine difference, the number of respondents who answered "Very important" was higher in Korea than in China.  Next(Rather important), China was a little higher, but they didn't show much of a relationship.

[Reading 2] What is the relation between culture and globalization? / Jeong hye min

Summary   Culture and globalization have realistic limitations in terms of interacting with each other that globalization is bound to be a problem in culture as negotiations of cultural experience are used in strategies to intervene in areas such as politics, environment, economy, etc. Interesting point  Marx and Cultural Globalization Marx argued that what they saw in the progress of ultra-national capitalism as ultimately and in a positive way was the subject of historical change: 'Everywhere should be established, settled everywhere, and connected everywhere.' These are exactly the opposite situations for cultural critics today. Discussion  C ulture as a dimension of globalization

What are the pros and cons of using Naver versus Google for research purposes? / Jeong hye min

Naver and Google can access various information and articles using search engines. In particular, Google does not have a lot of information other than information search and unnecessary advertisements, and there are many papers.  On the contrary, Naver is often unsuitable because there are many advertisements on blogs and uncertain sites that are sponsored or written for manuscript fees. Google is not classified in categories, making it difficult to find the information it wants.

[Reading 1] What is globalization? / Jeong hye min

Summary   Globalization is a phenomenon in which many countries around the world exchange a lot with each other in various fields such as politics, economy, society, culture and science. There is a definition of globalization, but there are various views on globalization. That's why this article says that globalization is relative.  Globalization is being discussed by many scholars. It is difficult to define globalization clearly because it is composed of politics, economy, society and culture and shows different characteristics depending on place and time. Interesting point  I think it was hard to understand at once while reading the text. In the meantime, I haven't read much about sociology, and unfamiliar words that I've never seen before have lowered my understanding. However, the most interesting part was the 'McDonaldization '. On the economic front, I was aware of McDonald's influence because i was aware of the Macnal index (the local currency price of ...

Is globalization good or bad? What do you think? / Jeong hye min

I think globalization is good. Currently, each country is not independent and is related to each other. Therefore, there are more exchanges with each other in various fields. We can work together to influence, to develop the country and solve problems. As a result, economic profits also increase.

Out of the three dimensions of globalization : cultural, political and economics, which is the most important, and why? / Jeong hyemin

I think culture is the most important thing among culture, politics and economy.  The reason is that first, the characteristics of a person vary depending on the culture. Politics and economics are not unaffected, but I think culture has the greatest influence. If a habit is formed according to culture, the habit does not change easily and usually lasts forever.  Second, it is often said that when you visit or visit another country, you experience the culture of that country. I think it's because culture is that important.
