[extra posting ]-What may cause reduction in globalization?

What may cause reduction in globalization? I think the s trong political regulations may cause reduction globalization.  Despite the covid-19, many people are fully engaged in cultural exchanges through Internet SNS and can also interact with people from other countries without contact.  However, in closed countries such as North Korea, the Internet is not properly used and freedom of expression is restricted.  The same is true of China. China is also not as closed as North Korea, but it is suppressing freedom of expression in the use of the Internet, which makes it difficult to communicate with people in other countries.  So at a time when communication over the Internet network is desperately needed, closed national policies can be said to prevent globalization. The lack of technology will also disturb globalization. The most important factor in globalization is connectivity.  In today's hyper-connected society, the technology that connects countries an...

[Reading 4] What is the relation between economics and globalization? /Park Jaehyeon

 1. Summary  In this article,  business enterprises, especially transnational corporations (TNCs), are a major component of the global economy.  This aritcle focuses on five problems, that are  the scale and geographical distribution of TNCs in the global economy, the reasons and methods of enterprises engaging in transnational activities, the geographical embeddings of transnational enterprises, and the 'Web of Enterprises' and the other actors in the global economy. Trading companies played a very important role in the development of businesses, increasingly interconnected, they created a business community of international scale.  Companies running operations that are not obliged to be loyal to any particular country or community around the world were referred to as "placeless" global companies.  The majority of the world's TNCs come from advanced economies.  The number of TNCs is undoubtedly growing in developed countries, and the diversity of...

What is the relation between politics and globalization? - Park Jaehyeon

Summary In this article, the concept of globalization refers to multidimensional, accelerated and interconnected. For some, the process of political globalization opens up the possibility of new liberation, while for others, globalization leads to the loss of autonomy and the division of the social world. Article  said in the article that political globalization can be understood as a tension between the three processes of interacting to produce a complex field of world politics: world geopolitics, world norm culture and multidimensional network. One of the most common forms of political globalization is spreading around the world.  Parliamentary state-based democratic governments exist in some form in most parts of the world.  The famous paper, The End of History, misinterpreted the spread of liberal democracy as the end of ideology.  Democracy leads not to the end of ideology but to the spread of more and different kinds of ideology. Many parts of the world ...

What is the relation between culture and globalization? / Park Jaehyeon

Summary  Globalization, in the realm of economic, political and technological development, is a very complex concept, without causal precedence over any of the dimensions. The increasing connectivity due to globalization is an important aspect of our lives in many ways.  So understanding globalization as a generalization process that increases connectivity helps us keep globalization in mind.  The importance of each level and the most important of these assumptions is clear that it is the economy.  Understanding what globalization is about cannot escape the global domination of the capitalist system, and the author points out such a great meaning.  However, when looking at culture, the reasons for rebelling against the temptation to look at it as economic reductionism are as follows.  First, the economy is explained in an unrealistically narrow concept. The second reason is that it distorts our understanding of the realm of culture.  Reading 'cul...

Blog Assignment2 -Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory

Image
In previous blog projects, people from all over the world analyzed the credibility of the government.  I thought I could explain how to respond to Corona-19 through the different Hofstarter variables in each country, with the theme of Corona in the Hofstarter variables. Now that the Covid-19 crisis has broken out, it is essential to prevent viruses among people through social distinctions. But sometimes you can see people without masks or social distance.  Karen Douglas, a professor of psychology at Kent University in the U.K., published a study on the 29th issue of the international journal "British Journal of Social Psychology" that shows that people with collectivism actively participate in social distinctions and abide by hygiene rules rather than those with individualism tendencies. The results showed that people with individualistic tendencies are less active in participating in social distance-keeping and complying with hygiene regulations. It is analyzed that this phe...

[Blog Assignment 1] WVS analysis : Confidence of governments in each nations

Image
Since the outbreak of the Covid- 19 virus, government intervention in quarantine and public support has increased, making the role of the government very important.  However, depending on the public's perception of the government, I was thought that accepting the government's action would be different.  So, through the WVS, I decided to analyze how each country perceives each country's government. First survey question is confidence about their government. Most of country answered "Quite a lot" as 35.9%.  What should be noted is that China accounted for the largest percentage in a great deal overwhelmingly.   People in China were very confident about their government.  But I thought there must be another reason for this result. This may be a very dangerous interpretation, but I've seen an article before.   https://theprint.in/opinion/china-is-an-enemy-of-freedom-of-thought-it-wants-the-same-from-other-powerful-nations/502708/ The above articl...

What is Globalization?

Image
summary Globalization is a very controversial word. Scholars and academics have different definitions of this, and people have different ways of accepting it. But A lot of efforts are being made to define globalization perfectly.   Vellho describes globalization as an object, perspective and horizon. This view is to focus globalization simply on 'objective methods' with sufficient reflection. Vellho defined globalization as the way the world moves. The spread of the term globalization began only after the Berlin Wall collapsed in 1989 and communism collapsed only partially thereafter.   As communism collapsed, as the word globalization spread, spreads, The position on globalization has been divided. In relation to the end of capitalism, the view of globalization economically and the view of the wider view of the currency were divided. In the late 1990s, a movement, which was not confined mainly to Western society, but was commonly called the anti-globalizat...

Out of the three dimensions of globalization: cultural, political and economics, which is the most important, and why?

I think the most important dimension is politics.  Culture and economy are important, but I think policies in charge of institutional aspects are the most important.  I would like to take 'Heungseon Daewongun'   as an example who is  a royalist and politician of the late Joseon dynasty. Heungseon Daewongun implemented 'isolationist policy'.  This policy had a great impact on the globalization of Joseon. Because of this isolationist policy, Joseon  couldn't interact with other countries.  This policy has been a major stumbling block to Joseon's acceptance of globalization. I think culture, economy is important demension, too. Countries can accept  some economic support to embrace globalization, and culture can promote globalization. (ex. K-POP, BTS) But I thought, s ince the most basic policies allowes on them, I think economic or cultural exchanges are possible.
