What is globalization?

We can feel globalization too easily in our daily life. I saw Son Heung-min scoring goals in the EPL early this morning and had a McDonald's hamburger for lunch. And now I'm doing my project with Apple computer. In these various field, borders are gradually disappearing and various things are moving freely to create globalization.

I believed that globalization was a good thing until I thought deeply about 'globalization' through this project. But I was able to think a lot when I saw the anti-globalization movement from the hand out(What is globalization). It's said that the anti-globalization movement took place in the late 1990s because globalization created great inequality. Does globalization really make inequality? I thought about the main dimensions of globalization culture, society, politics, economy that Castells and Knorr cetina talked about at this point.

First, as various cultures of the world were introduced, there were more opportunities to experience various cultures. Ironically, however, there is phenomenon of uniformity in culture. This refers to a phenomenon is which the influence of a particular culture expands and harms the diversity of the rest of the culture. For example, people who have all Apple products are called sensual people, while people who have non-Apple products are sometimes dismissed as "people who have no Apple sensibility."

Second, our country has become a multicultural society now. If you go to Incheon, there is China town and Ansan has a neighborhood where multicultural families are gathered. However, the globalization of this society is causing social conflicts everywhere. At an elementary school in Gwangju, some students form Islamic cultures were skipping school meals because of the lack of 'HALAL food'. Society is becoming globalized and I think it's a problem caused by lack of understanding.

Third, the globalization of politics is often felt in the news these days. At a time when the Japanese prime minister has changed and U.S. presidential election is just around the corner, we often see news about what stents our country should take. Of course, the governments of each country often consult to solve the problem now that they have become a global village, but I usually think that the position of a powerful nation is working hard.

So is the fourth economic sector. The economic crisis of the great powers also has an adverse effect on other countries' economies. The 2007-2008 global financial crisis was a crisis that began in the U.S. financial markets and spread throughout the world. At this time, Citigroup was forced to make a massive workforce adjustment, which led to the collapse of the Icelandic coalition government.

I was thinking that globalization was natural and of course acceptable. But globalization is affecting many parts of us. Rather than thinking that globalization is something that can solve all problems, we should think about how we should accept globalization in the future. I think we should keep up with the trend of globalization in the future.
