BLOG ASSIGNMENT 1. Immigration graph. : social diversity and social conflict/Han seung gu
I investigated how major countries around the world were thinking of immigrants through wvs.
First, we investigated the positive influence of immigrants. The following graph shows whether immigrants increase social diversity. South Korea had the highest figure that immigrants did not increase social diversity. They also agreed least that immigrants increase diversity. This shows that Korea has a negative perception of immigrants. Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom have mostly given positive reviews of immigrants.
The following graph examined whether immigrants caused social conflicts. Statistically, more than half said it was hard to say that immigrants were related to social conflict. In the United States, however, nearly 40 percent of people agreed. From this, we can see that the United States also has a negative perception of immigrants. Surprisingly, more than 80 percent of Koreans here said they don't care about immigration and social conflict. In other words, Korea simply thinks that immigrants do not contribute to diversity in society, rather than negative public opinion about immigrants.
