Blog assignment 1: WVS Data/ Joon Hee Lee

In this analysis using wvs data, I am going to compare statistics from Korea, China, and Japan on important qualities for children. The quality consists of a total of 11 elements,

(good manners, independent, hard work, feeling of responsibility, imagination, tolerance and respect for other people, thrift saving money and things, determination perseverance, religious faith, unselfishness, obedience)

and I thought it would be very interesting if different aspects of the same item were found in different countries. And in this article, I plan to focus on the qualities of the three countries that have been measured exceptionally low compared to other countries.(2017-2020)

1. Hard work

Hard work, many people think that effort is very important to live in the world. Japan, however, expressed a very low level of importance to these qualities. China and South Korea recorded 70.4% and 60.9%, respectively, while only 25.1% of Japan said it was "important."

2. Determination perseverance

The quality to look at this time is that. This may seem to be related to the effort from the beginning, but it shows another result. While 63.3% of Japan and 49.6% of Korea said this was important, only 20.5% of China, which had previously shown high figures, thought it was important.
(From the left, in turn, 'important', 'not mentioned', 'no response")

3. Unselfishness

As expected, the final data to be examined is a quality that has been particularly low in Korea. This is not really a big consideration in all countries (average:24.3%) but was particularly low (4%) compared to the other two countries (28.7% and 33% respectively).
(From the left, in turn, 'important', 'not mentioned', 'no response")

In addition, there seemed to be some differences between countries in other qualities, but most of the results showed that the qualities mentioned above were important. Although the survey cannot show all the differences in values between countries, it was very good to see a quick and simple analysis of comparing different countries at the same time.
