[Blog Assignment 1] WVS analysis - Ra Yushin

The table above shows differences in gender equality indicators by continent. The countries in Europe, France and Sweden, have the highest equality among the six countries in terms of gender equality in the profession. The United States, on the American continent, has the second highest level of equality after Europe. On the other hand, Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, and Turkey show lower job equality than those in Europe and America.

Gender equality differences have been seen not only in the profession, but also in the political sector. In the table above, in the political aspect, France and Sweden, which belong to continental Europe, showed high gender equality index. The United States, which belongs to the American continent, has the second highest gender equality index. Asian countries, Korea, Japan, and Turkey, as well as the job-related gender equality index, had the lowest gender equality index among the three continents.

Lastly, gender equality differences by continent also appeared in the education sector. Looking at the table above, it shows the same results as the two tables we saw earlier. Here again, Sweden and France, also in continental Europe, had the highest gender equality index in terms of education, followed by the United States, in the Americas, with the second highest equality index. The three countries in Asia have the lowest gender equality index in education, as shown in the previous two tables.

From the three tables above, it can be seen that the gender equality index between continents is different. This is because the continents have different cultures. In Europe, there is no more sexism culture than on other continents. In particular, in Asian cultures, Confucian culture has been a mainstream ideology for a long time, so the gender equality index was lower than that of the other two continents.
