What is the relation between culture and globalization? ——Yang Ruixin

As we know, kung fu panda became a hot topic in China. surprisingly, this American film shows bright Chinese images such as kungfu and panda. this is a good example of cultural globalization. but there are two entirely different attitudes towards it. some people think it demonstrates the increasing influence of Chinese culture. others, however, inclined to take the opposite point of view and regard it as an invasion of native culture resources.

As for me, I tend to take an open attitude towards cultural globalization. we can promote our own culture and meanwhile learn from other cultures, which is beneficial to all countries. It is important to note that each culture has its own characteristics. with the evolving trend of cultural globalization, we should be responsible for the development and spread of our national cultural tradition.

Just like a coin, which has two sides, on one aspect, globalization is not only accelerating economic growth speed, spreading new technology and effective ways to improve the level of life in rich and poor countries, but it is also a controversial process that may contribute to national sovereignty, erosion infringement to local and traditional culture and the threat of economic and social stability.

By looking through the data, I found that for cultural globalization, different scholars hold different views, some scholars even directly deny the concept of cultural globalization, because I personally hold a positive attitude, so focus on the theory of affirmation.

There are two opinions on affirmative:

one is Unity theory, the other is pluralism theory.

Unity theory can be divided into optimism and pessimism.

Optimists in Unity Theory believe, Whether it is active or passive, the backward culture will gradually close and change to the advanced culture. And finally, form the best single culture. Cultural globalization will eventually form the best and most advanced unified culture, It represents global productivity, This is the utopia of cultural globalization.

Pessimists in Unity Theory believe Cultural globalization will eventually lead to hegemonic culture dominating the world, Force us into the 'universal' of a culture, It will be always based on the cultural order and values of the developed countries, If the world uses a common language, it is most likely English, If the world uses common safety and quality standards, they are most likely American standards. If the world culture also has the natural choice of "survival of the fittest" like the animal world, A single culture will inevitably lose its vitality; in that way, the culture will lose its inherent characteristics and eventually bring global culture into an irrevocable abyss.

The pluralism of cultural globalization is divided into hybridism theory and synergy theory.

The theory of hybridism holds that the development of global culture can not be unitary, central, but must be pluralistic and multicenter. The global culture is a mixed culture.

The theory of synergy holds that accepting different cultural elements in an open attitude and transforming these new cultural elements give them new meaning and vitality. This deep communication and fusion process actually constitutes innovation. Pluralistic cooperation and common prosperity is the development direction of cultural globalization in the future.

Personally, I agree with the synergy theory. Putting culture at the center of development policy does not imply conservatism or restraint. Instead, develop creativity by harnessing the potential of your resources, knowledge, skills, and materials, Promoting sustainable progress, Recognition, and respect for cultural diversity can also create conditions for mutual understanding, dialogue, and peace.

Recognition of cultural diversity as a prerequisite and basis for cultural globalization embodies an objective spirit, recognizing that we are different. But it is not enough to admit, but also to respect differences, which is an inclusive attitude, recognizing that although we are different, we have their own characteristics, there is no good or bad. In addition, we also advocate complementarity and realize that we will be better off learning from each other and helping each other. The highest level is to promote the integration of culture through diplomatic practice so that the world becomes a colorful, coordinated, and prosperous world.

Currently, respect for diversity has become the consensus of many people. Italy famous thinkers and writers En Beituo • Aike raised in the keynote speech to commemorate the 900 anniversary of the General Assembly the University of Bologna was founded in 1999, the goal of the third millennium of the European continent is "the difference between coexistence and mutual respect". He believes that "it was discovered that the difference is more able to recognize and respect the difference, the more they can get together in an atmosphere of mutual understanding among the better".

The process of constructing a harmonious world is the process of recognizing cultural diversity, respecting cultural differences, advocating cultural complementarity, and promoting cultural blending. It is the process of multicultural cooperation and co-prosperity, and the process of global cultural formation and development. Therefore, the prospect of a harmonious world is consistent with the prospect of cultural globalization, It is the embodiment of the integration of all mankind's multi-civilization co-prosperity.

I believe that the benefits of cultural globalization are:

1. is conducive to economic and cultural exchanges and development (promoting economic globalization and building new cultures)

2. is conducive to the peaceful coexistence of mankind, reducing differences and contradictions (increased cooperation to achieve pluralistic integration);

3. conducive to the implementation of international laws and regulations (to achieve the institutionalization of international exchanges, legalization);

4. facilitate the dissemination and diffusion of science and technology (knowledge economy, sustainable development);

5. helps to enhance global awareness and jointly deal with common disasters facing mankind.

However, while cultural globalization promotes social integration and provides new opportunities for thousands of people, it may also weaken the uniqueness of indigenous culture, which in turn may lead to loss of identity, exclusion, and even conflict. This is especially true of traditional societies and communities, which are deeply influenced by the high-speed "modernization" from the outside world and from the local environment.

In the current era of globalization, global capital, labor, information flow speed, and intensity are unprecedented, local culture is being affected by homogenization. Balancing the benefits of integration into a globalized world and preserving the uniqueness of indigenous cultures requires caution.
