What is the relation between politics and globalization? / JeongYoon Oh
political globalization is concerns an approach to the social world that stresses postnational and transnational processes as well as a consciousness of the compressed nature of space and time. For someone, the political globalization process opens up the possibility of a new liberation, but for others, globalization may lead to the loss of autonomy and the division of the world community. The political globalization we claim can be understood as three kinds, world geopolitics, world norm culture and pluralistic network. One of the most common forms of vestigial globalization is the worldwide spread of democracy based on the parliamentary ethnic state. Globalization does not weaken a democratic state, but shows global acceptability. With the spread of global communication and popular culture, political communication is no longer limited to borders, but is taking place globally. The process of political globalization is associated with new methods of network and flow, mobility and communication and represents new relationships among individuals, countries and societies. Globalization, however, may strengthen democracy, but it can also divide democracy. Political globalization will be explained by three examples: "Changes in nationality and citizenship, public domain and political communication, civil society, space and border transformation."
Interesting Point
The most interesting part of the reading is that the development of global civil society can create new opportunities, but at the same time create new anxieties and risks. I never thought about the fact that citizens of the world are not necessarily working for peace, freedom, or democratization, so it was a very interesting point of view. As the world's civil society develops, it can lack individual responsibility and form a political space and network that can be easily used by people such as terrorists and drug dealers. Simply speaking of the world's civil society, I thought of only positive aspects, but if I think about it in detail, the scope of evil can increase as the whole range increases because the world is integrated. But many people don't expect this fact. In the future, as a more integrated society than before, a more evil network can be consolidated and become stronger. As we are building a new society, I hope that these negative effects and concerns will be discussed and resolved by many people.
Discussion
Q. Is the nation weakening as a result of global power? Or is it getting stronger?
In Europe, there are many opinions about transnationalization. When globalized as a global force, will the nation lose its original power and become weak? Or will it become strong through the power of various countries?
