"What is the relation between politics and globalization?” / Minji Moon

(Summary)

There are two sides to political globalization. First of all, political globalization opens up the possibility of a new liberation.
On the one hand, however, political globalization loses its autonomy and causes world division.
The most common form of political globalization is the spread of democracy to the world. Today most of the world's countries take the form of democracy. Democracy has become a universal form of government since 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the European communist regime.
Next, the culture of global norms came to mind. A prime example is human rights. And this includes global environmental issues.
Lastly, there is a civil society. Civil society is the realm of informal politics for any purpose.
This includes the International Non-Government Organization. They are horizontally united and organized worldwide.

Today's culture of world norms exists beyond the national system. Rather, it is a tense relationship with the nation. And this culture of global norms presents normative directions to politicians.

As such, there is a new dimension that is less relevant to the country and not enough to describe it as globalization.

And it's called a multidimensional network.

The civil societyization of politics is characterized by the political commonality that connects regions, the world and countries. And this centers on common norms such as competitiveness, sustainability and human rights.
The concept of civil society can be called a combination of democratic pluralism and state regulation. One of the most representative examples of global civil society is the NGO's political campaign.
Democracy, the beginning of a global normative culture, and the 'civilization' of governance exist in complex and sometimes contradictory relationships.

Thus globalization has contributed to the emergence of new political confrontations. And this contradictory relationship creates a dilemma between autonomy and fragmentation.

First, the globalization of the nation-state has formed a universal aspiration for democracy.

Second, the global normative culture served as a medium for global character norms.

Third, the development of global civil society creates new opportunities for autonomy, but at the same time creates new unrest.

(Interesting Point)

It was interesting that the debate on political globalization was so diverse. In the meantime, when it comes to political globalization,
This is because he only thought of "democracy." So far, he has been positive about political globalization.
But looking at the discussion of the loss of autonomy and the division of the world, I came to think again about political globalization.
