Globalization

The push and resistance of globalization

It can be seen from the history of globalization that globalization is not a natural and irreversible development. Even today, we can also find that some individuals, groups, and organizations are promoting globalization, and there are other individuals, groups, and organizations that are resisting globalization.

Those who promote globalization generally benefit from globalization, or believe in the value of globalization. Those who resist globalization are naturally those who cannot benefit from globalization, or they deny the value of globalization.

  The main promoter of globalization

Multinational corporations - In the process of outsourcing, the production process is dispersed to all parts of the world; in the process of promotion and sales, the products are sold to all parts of the world.

International organizations-through arbitration and agreements, coordinate the policies of different countries, and through the provision of standards and signing conventions to standardize certain behaviors.

Financial investors - chasing higher returns, in a disguised form, become a group of people who monitor corporate behavior and government policies, indirectly providing a set of international standards.

Neoliberals - generally include in the academic field or communication media, promote neoliberal ideas, advocate open markets, and become global ideological mentors.

 The main resistance of globalization

Those who promote globalization generally focus on business interests, but there are many people who oppose globalization.

Trade unions-Whether it is a trade union in a developed country or a developing country, they generally oppose globalization and consider it harmful to workers. Trade unions in developed countries believe that companies are contracted out to reduce jobs, while trade unions in developing countries are worried about multinational companies exploiting the rights of local workers.

Social movement groups - Social movement groups that are concerned about human rights, democracy, poverty, and environmental protection all resist globalization, believing that globalization only cares about business interests and ignores other values.

Nationalists - Nationalists generally oppose globalization, seeing it as an invasion of American or Western culture and undermining the value of local culture.

Leftists-See globalization as the result of capitalism eroding social justice, believe that free markets will not help change social inequality and international inequality, and advocate changing resource allocation through political action.
