Is such fight visible in your country?

It was during the democratization movement that fierce fighting took place in Korea. Citizens' demands for democratization increased after the military government was established in the 1980s, but the military government suppressed it. In particular, when the democratization movement broke out in Gwangju, the military government put in troops to suppress the protesters, and the cruel behavior was not known until later, after blocking Gwangju city itself at the time. After that, as protests centered on college students spread to office workers and housewives, citizens' demands for democratization became intensifying. In the process, many college students were tortured and imprisoned, and there were even cases where they died while being tortured. Democracy was restored through the sacrifices and wounds of numerous people.

Recently, public opinion was expressed through non-violent demonstrations due to the development of civic consciousness. In the fall of 2016, as President Park Geun-hye's abuse of authority and the monopoly of government affairs became known to the world, citizens appeared on the streets and protested. However, its form was different from the last democratization movement. It was a non-violent demonstration, not an armed demonstration, and the demonstration proceeded in an orderly manner. Many citizens demanded the impeachment of the President through candlelight protests, and the National Assembly, who observed this, proceeded to impeach the President according to legal procedures, and the President was impeached. Through this process, it was confirmed that Korean citizenship was more advanced than the last democratization movement. In particular, the biggest achievement is that impeachment was carried out without any sacrifice or damage within the legal system agreed by the people, not by force. Various protests took place as a result of this incident, but most of them were carried out as non-violent peaceful protests, and a mature protest culture was established.
