About globalization

Supporters of globalization believe that it allows poor countries and their citizens to develop economically and improve their living standards, while opponents of globalization claim that the establishment of an unrestricted international free market has benefited multinational companies in the western world at the expense of local enterprises, local culture and ordinary people. As a result, when people and governments try to manage the flow of capital, labor, goods and ideas that make up the current wave of globalization, resistance to globalization has formed at both the global and the governmental levels.

In order to strike the right balance between the benefits and costs associated with globalization, citizens of all countries need to understand how globalization works and the policy choices facing them and their societies.
