Blog Assignment 1. World Values Survey / Kim Yoon(김윤)
<Work should always come first even if it means less spare time>
I compared the survey answers between Korea and neighboring China and Japan. I have always thought Koreans are "working ants" compared to neighboring countries. Although the labor law is gradually changing positively, with the introduction of the 52-hour workweek, Koreans still suffer from work. I was able to find out what the survey respondents thought about this issue that I was usually curious about through this webpage.
According to the search results, the percentage of people who answered "yes" in China and South Korea was higher than in Japan when asked if work should be done first. Especially in Korea, the percentage of respondents who answered yes and those who answered 'neither agree nor disagree' were also high. I found this interesting, and I thought about the reason. Koreans live under overwork, and if they want to continue to survive in this fierce society, they have to work and earn money. So I thought it was because the body was working but constantly feeling skeptical. I also thought that Korea, China, and Japan are all working and busy societies, but it was also interesting to see the answer that Japan is an exception.
In Korea, relatively high percentage of respondents said work comes before leisure time, but in Japan, the opposite answer was higher. However, the percentage of respondents who answered 'neither agree nor disagree' was relatively high in both Korea and Japan. Why did this answer come out?
