What is Globalization?


1)    Summary

: Since globalization is essentially a controversial concept, scholars in many fields talk about globalization in the sense of revenge. Globalization is difficult to define in a single sentence because it is done in various ways in various fields. Globalization can be largely divided into cultural, political, and economic globalization. And there are many functions in globalization. In the wake of globalization, there are many net functions such as lowering barriers between countries and improving overall levels, but on the contrary, inequality between countries due to differences in technology development is also a big problem.

: George Ritzer's concept of 'McDonaldization' was interesting. He used McDonald's, which has so many stores around the world, as an example to describe the characteristics of modern society. While McDonald's has spread the consumption of goods and services around the world relatively evenly, it has adapted the brand to the local situation depending on the situation. I could give an example of India as a representative example. Looking further into "McDonaldization," Ritzer's opinion was interesting, saying that behind "McDonaldization," which provides huge profits based on rationality, there is a rationality, and there is a harmful effect that dehumanizes human beings themselves.
