What is the relation between politics and globalization? - Park Jaehyeon

 Summary

In this article, the concept of globalization refers to multidimensional, accelerated and interconnected. For some, the process of political globalization opens up the possibility of new liberation, while for others, globalization leads to the loss of autonomy and the division of the social world. Article said in the article that political globalization can be understood as a tension between the three processes of interacting to produce a complex field of world politics: world geopolitics, world norm culture and multidimensional network.

One of the most common forms of political globalization is spreading around the world. Parliamentary state-based democratic governments exist in some form in most parts of the world. The famous paper, The End of History, misinterpreted the spread of liberal democracy as the end of ideology. Democracy leads not to the end of ideology but to the spread of more and different kinds of ideology. Many parts of the world of democratic nations have created a very different kind of political culture.

The first dimension of political globalization is the geopolitics of world power. As a result of global communication, political communication, including popular culture, is no longer limited to borders, and its scope is global. National politics is increasingly framed in terms of global discourse. Coupled with the global spread of democracy, political communication became the basis of a global normative culture that arose as much as supporting it against geopolitics.

Today, the culture of world norms has come to exist beyond the national system and exists in the relationship of tension with countries. This global culture of normality provides states with a normative standard point and a direction for political actors. There is another dimension in globalization that is less relevant to the state and cannot be reduced to globalization, which can be called a multidimensional network, or non-legal political form.

But political modern globalization can improve democracy, but it can also carve out democracy by shifting its autonomy over capitalism. Globalization has led countries to compete, and as a result, countries have had to share sovereignty with other global participants.

The public sphere is pervasive by what can be called the global public. This does not mean a particular public, but the global context in which communications are filtered is always the realm of discourse that exists today. Consideration for the relevant development, which we can call a "civil society" of politics, has been stimulated and developed. The proliferation of governance practices that coordinate policies in partnership with various countries beyond countries, on the one hand, social actors who traditionally do not engage in government mechanisms, and on the other, by changes in government scale. Social movements and grassroots politics across the region, across borders, are becoming increasingly coordinated.'Civilization' represents the commonality of the political form that connects the region, the globe, or the world. National and transnational and common political codes: mobilize various actors, such as competitiveness.

Political globalization has now created a new state of tension in which politics is structured. Key politics, on the other hand, has previously focused on class divisions, state-to-civil society, and division between tradition and industry.

Globalization of national states, and the model and institutionalized governance of political states have been given. A democratic national nation is an important means of politics.

Interesting Point

The political part is a very important part of globalization. I think democracy is a political system that is very helpful in creating various political views and ideas. Of course, we can't say there's a perfect political system in the world, democracy has made opening up to other countries much easier. So I strongly agree with the view that democracy has led to the spread and diversification of political ideas in this article. And the fact that civil society created by democracy plays an important role in political globalization is that the voices of citizens have become louder in globalization, and that individual voices have become more important in politics.

Discussion

Is democracy the idea of unifying the world? or is it an idea that can further diversify the world's ideas? Currently, most countries in the world choose a democratic political system. But the famous paper, 'The End of the History of this article,' interpreted it as the end of ideology because it was the case with the spread of free democracy. So I wanted to know if the spread of democracy in the world could lead to the uniformity of the political system of countries.
