Blog assignment 2 _ Hofstede insights / Taeyi Lim
First of all, if you look at the power
distance, Korea was the highest, and Canada and Germany were similar. This is a
long power distribution compared to the other two countries, and it can be said
that Korea believes that the income distribution of society is uneven, that
inequality exists between classes, and that it is a basic fact of society in
the use of power.
In terms of Individualism, you can see that
the difference between Canada and Korea is very big. Canada has a strong sense
of 'I' and claims privacy rights. On the other hand, I think Korea should have
a strong sense of "us" and be able to think importantly about its
membership and harmonize.
There was no apparent difference in terms
of Masculinity. Among them, Korea has a low level of Masculinity, which means
that it does not think the balance between family and work is important and
there is a difference in social roles.
Uncertainty Avoidance is the highest in
Korea, which is the same as the result I expected. Koreans have strong
avoidance of uncertainty. I feel anxious and stressed about things happening
that I didn't expect, and I feel the need for clarity and structure.
In terms of the following Long-Term
Orientation, surprisingly, Korea had a figure of 100. Korea considers saving
and patience as important goals in a future-oriented way and can adapt to the
fast and changing environment of national growth. On the other hand, Canada
seems to think about the present, and it seems to blame luck for success and
failure.
Finally, Canada was the highest in terms of
indulgence. This means that it is tolerant, and the importance of leisure is
great and maintaining the order of the country is not a priority. However,
Korea does not feel the importance of leisure and demands stricter norms.
Overall results show that Germany generally
had moderate figures in six aspects. The lowest two parts show that Germany has
a fair distribution of income in society, and religion also emphasizes the
equality of believers and is a little binding.
